The Ginoogaming First Nation Timber Claim Trust was established in April of 2002, following negotiations and an agreement between Ginoogaming First Nation and the Government of Canada for compensation resulting from illegal taking of timber on Long Lake Reserve #77.

Education Program

Since the program started in 2004, the Trust has disbursed $672,898.16 in education bursaries to assist Ginoogaming members who were enrolled in an education program. This is one program that the Trustees are proud of as it provides assistance to all members.

Recreation Program

To promote the health and wellness of Band Members by facilitating their access to recreational/sporting opportunities through the fair and equitable distribution of available financial support from the Ginoogaming Timber Claim.

Health Program

To provide financial assistance to Ginoogaming First Nation members with the costs of medical expenses that are covered by provincial, private, and Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). To inquire please call the Band Office.

Housing Program

The housing program sets aside a designated amount of funds annually to provide financial assistance to qualifying band members.  To be eligible to apply for assistance under the Ginoogaming First Nation Timber Claim Trust – Housing Program; the applicant must be a registered Ginoogaming band member. To inquire please call the Band Office.

Funeral Program

As funeral expenses are an unexpected expense on family members and loved ones, the Board of Trustees developed the funeral program. The program allows the Timber Claim Trust to financially assist families with the funeral expenses and the purchase of headstones for Ginoogaming First Nation members. For more information please contact the Timber Claim office.
