Construction Laborer

(Summer Students)

 

Responsibilities:

Ginoogaming First Nation is currently seeking two summer students to work on a construction project happening this summer from June to Sept 2024   

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Hard working and physically able to manage rigorous tasks such as digging trenches and moving heavy material.
  • Prior experience in construction considered an asset and would be an advantage.
  • Exceptional teamwork skills, able to work efficiently and collaboratively within a group
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ideal candidate would have a full G license and experience in pulling trailers

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs receptionist functions:

  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other company training programs as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction sites by cleaning debris, setting-up barriers, and erecting safety signs.
  • Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from the construction site as directed.
  • Perform manual labour tasks suck as digging trenches, excavating earth, and breaking up concrete under the supervision of skilled workers.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools safely and efficiently, following proper operating procedures.
  • Assist in concrete pouring, mixing, and finishing tasks, including the setup, and dismantling of formwork.
  • Perform general cleanup duties to maintain a safe and orderly working environment, including disposing of waste and debris.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety training sessions when and where required.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed to support project objectives.
  • Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or other issues to supervisors promptly.
  • Maintain positive and professional attitude, contributing to a collaborative and productive work environment.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Due to the nature of the work, prospective candidates should be able to work in various weather conditions and be willing to comply with safety procedures to ensure the protection of team members at construction sites.
